Can you suggest some thai dishes for a "beginner" to taste?
I want to get an idea of what Thai cuisine is like! I recently tasted Pad Thai and it was great, but im sure there's much more out there to experience!! Can you suggest some dishes for me to try that aren't too spicy and would appeal to someone just starting to eat Thai food?? I am not a fussy eater and love most foods.. I just don't like ginger, and I can't handle anything too spicy. =) Thanks!!

- try the mango salad.. yummy..
- Actually you can try everything just ask to make it mild. Most Thai restaurants outside Thailand have "star" ratings on food but also over here there is no problem to eat non spicy.
- Try Chicken Pad See Yew Its great!! I too was VERY iffy when it came to trying thai food until my friend bought me a dish of chicken pad see yew. Its a good noodle dish, kinda similar to pad thai. Its not spicy at all, I hate spicy and gingery foods too. I highly recomend it! Oh and if the thai place you go to has spring rolls you can't go wrong there!
- try this one Thai Vegetable Eggplant Curry Ingredients 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 tablespoons red curry paste 3 cups coconut milk 3 cups vegetable stock 1 cup string beans cut into 2 inch pieces 3-4 carrots, cut into slivers (matchstick size) 1/2 cup baby corn 1/2 cup cauliflower 2-3 fresh Thai chile peppers, sliced 4-5 kaffir lime leaves, chopped 3 tablespoons thin soy sauce 1/4 cup chopped fresh Thai chiles 2 teaspoons palm sugar 1 teaspoon fish sauce (or a bit more, to taste) 6 Thai eggplant, quartered Fresh Thai basil leaves to garnish Method In a large-ish (about 2 quart) pot, heat oil, then stir in the curry paste and fry until fragrant. Add coconut milk, and stir until well-mixed. Add the vegetable stock then add all vegetables (including lime leaves). Season with soy sauce, palm sugar and fish sauce. Cook until the vegetables are tender. Ladle into a bowl, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve with fresh steamed jasmine rice.
