- They all use rice and have some tomato-based sauces, they all use garlic and cilantro. Thai and Indian have very spicy food, they use coconut in desserts a lot...they use lots of ginger, they use tofu, they also do family-style meals rather than each person getting served an individual plate of food...I guess it could be similar to tapas...
- Khao mok Biryani Paella All are rice based from respectively Thailand, India, and Spain. You're in Spain, and I'm guessing you have an Indian connection - so what about khao mok? Khao mok is Muslim in origin as, I bet , are paella and biryani. Is coloured with turmeric (sound familiar?), although you gotta say the Spaniards win with saffron. It includes some basic meat (chicken, beef or fish - though some non Muslim versions use pork, oh yeah and the Buddhist a have a vegetarian version), lots of South east Asian vegetables and fruit, and some coconut milk. Khao mok is sweeter than the Indian and Spanish dishes, like most Thai dishes. You didn't ask but as an American - I've got to mention our Jambalaya! But that's for another day.
- they all use rice with veggies or meat. Indian & Spanish use saffron. Thai & Indian cuisines are very similar. But the Spanish & Indian are similar thru the Arabs. The Arabs influenced both Spanish & Indian cuisine: use of dried fruits & nuts. Also the theory that the gypsies came from India. Most food cultures cook with onions, ginger & garlic as a base.
