Thai cuisine? I love Thai food and I'm part Thai myself you could say, but I haven't tried a variety of them when I go to restaurants. The ones I ususally order are Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Gra Pao Gai, and of course Som Tum(Papaya Salad)... I'm planning to make some Thai food this weekend instead of going to restaurants, but I want to know if there are more cuisines I could possibally try... Any recommendations?

Anyone Know Thai Cuisine? Our local Thai restaraunt had a great dish on special when they first opened. Well I had it 2 or 3 times over the course of several months. I have asked the waitresses and even the owner what is was and they say they have never heard of such a dish even though I know it was a special at one time. Anyway, it looked like ramen noodles, they were a firmer nooodle than a ramen however. It was flavored with lime juice and maybe coconut milk and was seasoned Thai spices. It had a variety of seafood, shrimp, crab legs, squid, mussels and scallops. Any clue what this may be?
How do I make the Thai dipping sauce they serve with their spring rolls? My husband & I are crazy about Thai Cuisine and love eating out. We love getting spring rolls and the dipping sauce that goes with them. We want to recreate that sauce with our own spring rolls at home. We have tried many recipes and haven't found one that tastes anything like were use too.

OR a website that lists all types of Thai cuisine dips?
Why "Peanut Sauce" is known as Thai Food while Thai people in Thailand don't know what it is? Of course I am Thai, born and raised in Thailand. I find it funny that "Peanut Sauce" is everywhere in the west and seems to get more popular. People always refer it as "Thai" and many believe Thai food is all about peanut. If you go to Thailand, ask them about peanut sauce and most will go blank. They don't know what peanut sauce is. Thais put ground peanuts, as just another ingredient, in so few dishes that they don't consider peanut a main ingredient of Thai cuisine. And peanuts are coarsely ground so that they're like thick grains of sand, and not mud or peanut butter. Why is it like that?
what is the best cut of pork used in thai dishes? What is the name of the thinner but hearty cut of pork used in thai cuisine, particularly stir fry dishes? I like, for example my pad thai with pork, as well as my pad prik khing and stir fry garlic or ginger. Any suggestions?

Can you suggest some dishes for me to try that aren't too spicy and would appeal to someone just starting to eat Thai food?? I am not a fussy eater and love most foods.. I just don't like ginger, and I can't handle anything too spicy. =) Thanks!!
Do u like a cuisine NOT from your culture more than your own? I'm American and I think I pretty much prefer "American" cuisine but Persian cuisine comes a close 2nd. Just asking the question because I know an Indian guy who prefers Thai cuisine over his own Indian. I really like meat-stuffed dolmades and shirin polo.

Thai Cuisine Question? We found this Thai restaurant and the food is excellent..... but we know nothing of the food. The closest thing we have around here is Chinese food. The guy taking my order snuffed me when I said "egg rolls" instead of spring rolls. I'm not interested in impressing the "waiter" (:P) but the quality of the food really has us wanting to know more. Specifically, what's a Common dish that's Thai. I admit that us down here in South East Texas live so far out, if the world ended tomorrow, we wouldn't hear about it till next week. So be easy with your comments. I mean we eat the mud bugs that come out of the ground, call'em Crayfish. You can believe me there is no fish and lots of Cray... what ever "cray" is? Although not to be taken light of, I can also drive one hour South with a Castnet and fishing pole and have a fresh broiled flounder, stuffed with shrimp and crab meat that very night. So, by now you understand our stupidity but respect us down here enough to answer gingerly. Thank y'all a bunch
Bangkok West Thai Cuisine Menu question (the one in Aptos,CA)? Can someone tell me what's on their menu? Someone invited me to go, but I want to know what they serve (beyond just saying 'Thai Food'). I looked online but can't find a menu. I don't live in Aptos so it would be a waste of gas to go drive there for a menu. Also, I don't want to just call them and have them have to list everything. If someone's been, could they just tell me what things they have? Also, I'm a vegetarian and I'm allergic to shellfish.
Where is the best Thai food in New Orleans (and metro area)? Please provide a little description with your answers, especially your favorite dishes. Personally, I'm a big fan of all the curries: red, green, panang. And I used to love the pad thai at Bangkok Cuisine by Rock N Bowl. Lately, I've had some Thai Chili in Mandeville, Siamese Thai in Metairie, Bangkok Thai at the riverbend. Haven't eaten there in a while, but have never had anything good from Basil Leaf. How good is La Thai Cuisine on Metairie Rd?
Cooking cubed tofu for Thai and other Asian cuisine? Whats a good way to stir fry cubed tofu like they do in Thai resturaunts? Last night I heated some olive oil them added some bay leaf, garlic, onion, cumin, and cinnamon and fried the tofu in that, but it's not exactley great...
What do you think is the healthiest ethnic cuisine? Like chinese, Japanese, Thai, American, Italian, French,...etc. i personally think that the asain cuisines such as thai and chinese are because of the mixture of rice and protien they consume. but they tend to consume heavy portions yet still theres something that keeps them skinnier then a twig lol idk what that is but it works. but i would like to hear your opinion and why?

What style of cuisine do you prefer? I am interested in learning about which styles of cooking the general public prefers. Italian pastas or Greek ourzi? Do you prefer Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, or is it a Thai? Does your palate crave Hungarian goulash or Ethiopian rice? Do you know the difference between Creole and Cajun? I personally prefer the cuisine of my hometown, New Orleans. I love Creole food and will go out of my way to get the right ingredients to make it. Give me spice and the Holy Creole Trinity: green peppers, onions, and celery! I can make a roux, I can eat hot sauce and garlic on ice cream if I have to, and I cannot live without Creole tomatoes and red beans. What about you?

What is a good cuisine for a college student and enthusiastic cook to learn? I'm not the type of college student who lives off ramen and kraft dinner. I love cooking, and keep my kitchen full of fresh vegetables, meats and grains. I have a reportiore of some really good meals, but I'd like to expand my horizons and learn the ins and outs of a particular cuisine. I originally wanted to do Indian food, but a little bit of research showed that all the Indian restaurant dishes I love take the better part of a day to prepare. I'm busy, so I want food that takes 1 or 2 hours, tops. I'm thinking Thai- I looooove the flavor, but I'm worried that the fresh seasonings like limes, basil, and lemongrass might run up my expenses. My food budget is about $50 a week. I have a pretty well fitted kitchen, and I could drop some money on 1 or 2 reasonably priced new pieces of equipment. I would prefer to use foods that can sit in a fridge for a while, because I can't shop that often. Thanks for all input!
