who can advise me about THAI food? what's good to eat? always wanted to try THAI food....but know absolutely nothing about it....can anyone out there make some suggestions on what to order? I assume there must be some ''standard'' things on every Thai menu that appeal to a majority of people. Maybe even a coupla unique things from you real Thai connisseurs..... :) Thanks for any input you send my way.
Please tell me about these Thai food terms...? What is the meaning of these terms which appear repeatedly in the Thai menu: ganeng, pad, pak, kow, pla, yum..
At the Cheesecake Factory, what kind of Thai dish is the Bang Bang Chicken and Shrimp? I am going to a new Thai restaurant, and I have no clue about Thai food, but I really love this dish at the Cheesecake factory, so I'd like to know what to order to get something similar. I have no idea what the names of the dishes on the Thai menu mean!
Bangkok West Thai Cuisine Menu question (the one in Aptos,CA)? Can someone tell me what's on their menu? Someone invited me to go, but I want to know what they serve (beyond just saying 'Thai Food'). I looked online but can't find a menu. I don't live in Aptos so it would be a waste of gas to go drive there for a menu. Also, I don't want to just call them and have them have to list everything. If someone's been, could they just tell me what things they have? Also, I'm a vegetarian and I'm allergic to shellfish.
Thai food dish I can't seem to remember? I had Thai food a few months back and I wanted to eat it again but I don't remember the name even when I look at the menu. I know it had glass noodles, veges, and I'm guessing pork. But I don't think it was pad Thai because it wasn't the one with the seeds. I don't know if I make any sense but if you could help it'd be great!
What is your favorite common Thai dish when eating out? Don't know much about Thai food. All I have heard is it's noodly, ricey, basically Chinese food with heat and spice. Have researched a place that gets good reviews from locals but have no idea what the best "starter" food would be that just about any decent Thai place should have? Pad Thai? They have no online menu (nor website) so I'm clueless. I could just wander in and say 'what's your best seller?' and get served a plate of phrik khii nuu or mang dah (giant fried waterbugs) while the cooks get lots of lol's. As much fun as that FearFactor dining would be I'd like to get some ideas of traditional faves from the western palet? Thanks. Wow love the Yahoo Answers community! Since this is very vague and subjective there is no way I can choose the best answer. All are good even the Tae Kwan Do answer, [You forgot the Creme of Sumyung-gai :p]. The community will decide the best one. I and much of the community will benefit from all of your great answers. Thanks again!

What makes a girl want you to eat the spiciest thing on the menu every time we go out? She usually likes to order for me (I'm a girl also) and she wants me to get the spiciest thing on the menu. Then she watches me eat it. We go to a lot of Thai food places with spicy food and she always suggest that I order the spiciest thing on the menu. I totally don't get it. Do you think it turns her on? Why would you want to watch someone eat super spicy food?
what are fish balls (in thai food)???!!? i went to a thai restaurant and there was something called "fish balls" on the menu....what are fish balls!? seriously!
What is the spiciest type of food? My friend and I have a competition. We go to a restaurant, order the spiciest thing on the menu, and tell the chef to make it as spicy as he can. If my friend can eat the whole dish, I pay for his dinner. However, he is very very good at eating spices (he eats red hot chili peppers whole). So he can easily handle the spiciest American, Chinese, and Mexican foods. My question is - what cuisines are spicier? How can I stump him? I know that Indian and Thai food can be quite spicy. Are there any others? Which ones are the spiciest?
What should I order from this Thai restaurant? I'm going to thai food for the first time tonight. I'm not sure what to try. I was wondering if you guys could help me out! here's the menu: http://www.thailotusreno.com/menu.html what should i try? please explain why.

Can someone give me a clue of what Thai food consists of? yea yea I can look it up on the internet, but I would like people's opinions. I am a very VERY picky eater. well, i have *sensitive taste buds* haha. My friends want to go there tonight, but I'm questioning it cause we have a long night of dancing ahead and I need something good to eat and I'm afraid I won't find much that I will like on the menu.... Can anyone give me an idea of what kinds of foods they have? I like Chinese but I don't like sushi, but i LOVE tempura shrimp and teriyaki chicken and rice and such.... :) Thank you!!!
BBQ food, simple menu, is this ok for INFORMAL family wedding? There is only 1 vegetarian attending, I have checked and triple checked lol... we are making her some grilled field mushrooms, AT HER REQUEST, it's what she wants. Grilled chicken (various marinades such as BBQ, Thai curry, plain, garlic and herb) Sausages (really good ones from an organic butcher who makes them himself, flavours include pork and leek, pork and apple, lamb and mint, aberdeen angus beef, and some haggis ones (in hounour of our Scottish roots) Salmon, griddled and served with hollandaise sauce Green salad (various dressings available) Coleslaw (Home made) Tomato, mozzarella and basil salad Hot New Potatoes with butter and Herbs Home made breads and rolls, all the obvious dips and sauces and condiments you could want. Dessert will be strawberries and cream and wedding cupcakes. Our veggie guest will be well looked after and her food grilled before any meat is done, we have 2 seperate grills anyway. Will add a couple more salads I think, just to make sure they all have enough to eat
Is Indian Food less nutritious than Japanese, Chinese or Korean Food? The Indian diet is predominately carbohydrate based with a lesser portion of protein (vegetable based protein) and lack other vital mineral, vitamins because of the overcooking and the nutritional value is lost through this process. The high oil content and excessive spicing may dampen the taste and deliver food that lack natural flavor and texture. Such condiments as coconut milk, ghee, vegetable oil, milk and limited use of yogurt had made the taste muted and blending is highly dependent on the cook's creativity and skill. This is where the Indian Food can never attain International status like French, Chinese,Italian,American or even Thai Food ( Fusion of Indian and Chinese cooking with blend of South East Asian). The Indians must wake up to this reality and face the fact that these true undoubtedly. It is naive, arrogant and ignorant to support something without justification and realistic analysis of standard of Indian Food internationally. Certainly if you weight or diet conscious you certainly not touch Indian food. Ask any French person in french fashion industry or in Europe whether they would include Indian food in their menu. Certainly not I can assure you if your conscious of your slimline figure and weight and health you will avert Indian food from your daily diet. Pure Food and Wine in NYC? This question is for people who have actually been there and seen the actual menu because the one on the website isn't accute. I'm going today with my parents. They are both omnivores born and raised in Argentina. My dad doesn't think it's real food unless it's italian and my mother is will to branch out and she actually likes thai food and we've been to Veggie Heaven(vegan chinese food) and she likes that too. My question is what do you recommend I get them? I was thinking the lasagna for one of them, but I don't know what to get the other one. My mother likes very simple flavors.

Restaurants that offer gluten (wheat) free menus? I know Uno has a gluten free menu but are there any other restaurants that does the same? And I heard some people say that Thai food is safe to eat if your allergic to wheat. Is that true? Good point, I live in New York
Please review my English and corrcet / improve !? Please review my English below and corrcet / improve ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever tried Thai dishes? I believe that most of you order dishes that you expect to eat but some of you might have found your food different from what you envisioned. Lately, foreign-food restaurants improved their menus to make it easier for customers to understand. For example, more Thai restaurants are adding photos to their menus as well as dish names in Thai, English and Japanese languages with detailed description of each dish. However, if you know how to cook even a little, you can be more imaginative and have a better idea of how the items on the menu will taste. With that in mind, I am going to provide a rough explanation of Thai food cookery in the hopes that it will help you.

is it wrong for a thai restaurant to not have a restaurant theme? I went to eat at a thai place that I liked but have not been to in a year. When I went in they had a new set up with a giant tv blasting in the whole restaurant on a regular tv chanel which was usa showing some crime show. I almost walked out becasue of the loud commercials blaring when I was tyring to read the menu. For me the purpose of dining out is to eat and enjoy the resteraunt away from home. If I wanted to watch tv I would have gotten take out.Anyway poeple were watching cable tv. I asked the waitress to turn down the volume and she got anoyed. I could not enjoy my food with a loud tv blaring.I think they should have had thai music playing instead. Was I wrong to ask her to turn it off? It was a restaruant looking place. I asked if she liked thai music and she said sometimes. so the place was silent instead... I was able to enjoy the rest of my lunch though becasue like I said I cant stand a loud tv in the background especailly at a restaurant. your thoughts? I may never go back there again which is a shame because the food is good.
I have an infinite menu before me and have no idea what I should eat.? My boyfriend said he would cook anything for me that I wish, but I can't decide since there's a million choices! p.s. - I'm picky. Keep that in mind. I like simple but good. I don't like Thai, Indian, or Mediterranean food, etc. ***The person whose answer appeals to me the most will receive the best answered question by me*** Suggestions would be very much appreciated, thanks! :) Also, my boyfriend would like you to know he will send out his appreciation to the person with the best answer while meditating tonight.
Is this really that bad of an idea? She's allergic to nuts. Especially peanuts. I am of mixed backgrounds, French, Chinese, and Thai. But Thai food has always been "home" food for me. Of course there are peanuts in Thai cooking. Anyways, there's this amazing Thai place that I recently discovered. The chef has offered to do a special tasting menu for us. She won't use nuts or peanut oil of course, she says there won't be nuts in the food, but she readily warns her restaurant isn't a nut free environment. I've seen her accidentally eat a nut before, and she swells up. She has a needle for it, and usually that's okay. Is it a really bad idea to take her here? If it helps, we both know a lot of 5 star chefs personally in the city, getting a special French, or Italian dinner isn't a problem, but getting good Thai food is, and I want to show her what "home" cooking for me is.
Rehearsal Dinner Anxiety? I don't know what to do about my rehearsal dinner! My fiance's parents were going to host a barbecue at their place, but now they are uncomfortable because they think it will be too far for people to travel and so they would rather do it at a restaurant. But we're still on a limited budget! If we go to a restaurant and people order whatever they want, we'll have a big bill that we can't handle. If we just order everyone the same thing, it might seem weird. Ideally, we'd like to be able to have it catered where we'd pre-order a range of dishes and then serve it family style (like Thai food or something) but we don't have anywhere to have it delivered. I guess my question is: If you were invited to a dinner at a regular restaurant, would you assume that you could order what you wanted off the menu? Would you think it odd if the hosts choose the food for everybody? Or would it be okay? Is there anything in particular we should think about? Like should we ask the waiter to bring only one menu so that guests aren't confused about what they're supposed to do?
Dinning at Gold Coast, Australia Queensland? I need some help to find a best restaurant with best menu, taste good, i accept any kind of food from Chinese, western, Thai and also the address so i can find the places easier. Thanks
Would you eat at a restaurant that has an 82 for it's health score? There's a Thai food/sushi place down the street from me that I've wanted to go to for a while, but when I was about to eat there a while ago and while looking around I noticed it had an 82 and decided not to. I went back again last night just to ask for a menu to take with me and didn't see the score sheet from where I was, so I don't know if it's changed or not. There were people in there eating of course, but I was just wondering what you guys think. I wouldn't be getting sushi, I'd be getting Pad Thai or something of the sort. I'm trying to imagine it was low because of sushi since that's usually an issue. But what do you guys think? But I wouldn't be eating the sushi and I'm assuming that's the main problem of the place. Is there anywhere I could go online to look at it?

whats your favorite asain restaurant style dish? including chinese japanese thai....etc.? the best one ive had is from a local thai restaurant called thai smile, its called Pineapple-Tangerine Chicken. Its SOOOO good, you can get it with fried or white rice...i always choose white. and put soy sauce on the rice. I've never seen the dish on any other menu so it must be a local specialty. its like heaven. but i also enjoyed other dishes such as.. orange chicken, general tso's chicken was very tasty. ( i always get chicken meals cause i feel pork and/or beef are very unhealthy. and shrimp/seafood just doesnt seem to go well with the sauces and spices they use in their cuisine.).. I've never tried any currys i really should though.... oh and chicken fried rice was good. i over did it with the soy sauce though and ruined it the first time i had it lol. but whats some of your fav foods from asain style restaurants???
Can you suggest simple recipes that suits for dinner after a heavy day? We both work till 7.00 in the evening. We hate dine out for many days because kids will spoil their health. So, me and my hubby run stright to kitchen to make sure a dinner before 8.00 in the evening (night??!!). Both us are not very good at choosing menus and finally land either in a poor food or a real grand one. Of course kids are too young to complain... We really need some good recipes for dinner. We are from Ohio. We even prefer Mexican, Indian, Thai food if thats easy to cook. Because Kids like little spicy food with curry sort of stuff. We prefer more on vegitarian food, because every second day we are in KFC / Pizza hut....... and add lots of chicken and meat to the food. Suggest some Indian food also, I like them - but don know how to cook. Thanks in advance.
Should I quit my job? I work in a Thai/Viet food restaurant and i hate it. I've only been working for 4 months. The only reason why i got the job was because of my mom. My mom works there too. My job there is to take order and bring the food around. I hate my job because of the lousy customers and the workers who work there. The workers there and the managers they make me feel like an outsider. Just to mention i'm not thai. Yes i asian but not thai. And i also think that one of the managers don't like me cuz this one time when i went to the kitchen to get the pickup ticket and started reading it and how much it cost the manager had an ugly look on her face like she was disgust and told me "It's at the bottom" meaning the cost. And also the that same manager was making fun of me this one time when i gave her the order of the customer's food. She and her sister were looking at the order and read it out loud and starting laughing at me. I don't get how it was funny. All it said was a peach drink. And then they started talking in viet. I also don't like their uncle who works there. I just asked him where the to go boxes were cuz there weren't anymore and he starting yelling at me when i couldn't find it. Secondly the customers. I remember when i went to take order for these two couples. When i took order for the lady she told she wanted yellow curry and wanted shrimps in. I told if she wanted shrimps in it she had to pay $2 to her curry cuz that's what's it says on the menu. And she told me that she didn't want to pay for the shrimp to be her curry. So when the food was ready and she got her food. She later complained to me that her curry didn't have shrimps in it. I told her that if she wanted shrimps in her curry she had to pay the $2 to her curry. And that's when she said "I'm willing to paid." At that time it just made me really piss off cuz at first she said no and now that she has her food she says yes??? Later when i went to get her bill for her she accused me of throwing it at the table and that i was angry. i just put it in the table and it made a sound and that's it. Do you think that i should quit my job? Just mention i'm only fifteen and i'm not even getting paid minimum wage.
What's a cool and funky name for my new catering business focusing on various ethnic foods? I've got things like lamb/eggplant mousakka, thai salmon, indian chicken curry, hand cranked pasta with ricotta/spinach filling, etc on the menu. I need a real catchy name!

Top restaurants in Chennai? What are the top five restaurants in Chennai (all cuisines appreciated)? Looking specifically for best North Indian, South Indian, Thai and Mexican? I have been in all four regions so I have a good idea of what is authentic based on the people who live there. But I am struggling to find authentic (besides South Indian food) foreign cuisine in Chennai. I love South Indian food, but would like some variety once in a while. What are some good menus for someone on a really small budget? We've recently joined the ranks of those laid off without much money coming in, and I'm trying to pare down our menus. I do a lot of one dish meals because they're inexpensive, but I'm trying to keep meals healthy and varied for my family (there are three of us). I'm a decent cook, and I do a lot of Thai, Vietnamese, American, Soul Food, and really basic Italian, but I'm looking for meal ideas that don't require a lot of unique ingredients and where I can buy ingredients in bulk and spread it across several meals. Any and all help would be appreciated!
Ethnic Cuisine in the US? In the US, we have restaurants that serve foods from many different countries. The claim is that many restaurants tone down the food for Americans. Also, I have coworkers from Italy who hate Italian food served here - too much garlic, strong flavors that overpower the real taste of the food. If the chef is Italian and knows my coworkers are from Italy, the chef actually cooks differently than what's on his menu. Supposedly it's the same with Chinese food. Chinese people get different food vs what's on the menu. My question... Without making special request of the chef which cuisine served in America is close to what is served in the "old" country? Chinese, Indian, Thai, Mexican, Japanese, etc, etc, etc? Any opinions?
I am looking for a new? . . . food experience in L.A. I'm use to eating many different kinds of cusines, Indian,Chinese,Mexican,Thai and Cuban to name a few.I really want to try something different.I am thinking of trying a raw cusine menu. I have an important lunch to set up for four people. Any suggestions for new and unique. Thank you for any help on this one.
Binge eating, how to over come it? I grew up being over weight and now weigh within a healthy weight range. But I would like to be flab free and fit before I turn 30 in October. I've been exercising and eating healthy but every time I don't see the result in numbers I binge ate. So 4 weeks ago I stopped weighing myself daily. Since then, I've been doing really well eating and exercising without feeling stressed. I could see my stomach becoming more firm and felt very fit and healthy. But because it was a long weekend, I thought I should treat myself and planned Thai take away lunch and sweet. It turned out to become a binge eating session over the course of 2.5 days. Even while I'm on healthy routine, I allow myself fun sized chocolate or a treat, so I'm really surprised that I've binged so bad. Do you think I have some kind of psychological food issue and has anyone over come this addiction/problem? Here are my menu: Sunday: Breakfast, normal(bran cereal and toast) frozen coke (in cinema) gelati one big scoop macaron x 3 custard muffin Thai chicken rice (probably served 3 adults) Thai sweets (enough to serve 3 adults) coconut pancake like thing Ferraro Roche(?) dark chocolate x 4 Monday Breakfast, normal as before Stick Rice Ball with meat (lunch) Grain Waves Snickers Cadbury Chocolate 100g ish? maxibone Ice-cream Toast with honey x 4 banana Today I had banana loaf and 6 fun sized chocolate @ work, on top of lunch and fruits. But I think I'm done with junk for today, I don't feel like I want to eat chocolates anymore. (thank god!) I know I'm going to kickboxing training tonight (I do 4 days a week and walking/jogging in between classes), and will be back on the track. But I'm wondering how long am I going to binge eat? Will I be doing this when I'm 50?? Why do I do this? Is this something that I should seek counseling for? or does everyone do it every now and then??? I love sweets. Sweeter the better, but eating this much in a day can't be normal or healthy. In the past, I've binged on sweets as well as junk foods but this time my mind was set on sweets and I was replacing lunch with sweets, and dinner with sweets.
Do you know of any great restaurants in Harrisonburg VA? My s.o. and I are traveling to Harrisonburg VA for two days and we'd love to find some great restaurants while we're there. I'll probably end up doing pub food/pizza by myself in the afternoon, but we'll be eating dinner together. For dinner, we're interested in places that have a sophisticated menu that is both tasty, but not extremely pricey. We're willing to splurge a little especially w/ sushi or tapas, but we're definitely not interested in top dollar restaurants. Can anyone recommend some great restaurants in Harrisonburg for: Pub fare, pizza? Sushi? Tapas? Other Asian (Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, etc)? American cuisine? Other 'ethnic' cuisine? Any 'unusual' dining experiences? Local favorites?
Would you have tipped in this situation? A couple of weeks ago me and my two friends went to a Thai restaurant that has recently opened up in our town. The service was really bad. The staff were nice enough but they didn’t serve us properly. When we went to order our meal, we couldn't understand the menu pricing and the lady who was serving us did a really bad job of explain it so we ended up just ordering what we thought would be enough for all of us. When our food came out, we only received half of it, about 10 minutes later the rest of it was brought out. We weren't able to get any drinks except for the water that was already there because were no waiters hanging about in the dining part of the restaurant (it seemed that everyone was in the kitchen.) By the end of the meal we were pretty pissed off, and ended up just dumping the money on the table and walking out. We gave them a 5 dollar tip (Meal cost us $80) because we felt bad for them, it seemed like the restaurant was kinda broke. As we got up, the owner of the place walked over to the table and picked up the money and our bill and looked really pissed off. He glared at us and gave us an evil face. Do you think that only tipping them $5 was the right thing to do? What would you have done?
Would you eat at a restaurant that has an 82 for it's health score? There's a Thai food/sushi place down the street from me that I've wanted to go to for a while, but when I was about to eat there a while ago I noticed it had an 82 and decided not to.
Help Me Create The Perfect Wedding Menu Please!!? Whoever can make the best and most detailed menu gets 10 points I need help with everything! hors d'oeuvres, drinks, food, desserts It will be a sit down dinner with two entrees to choose from. One will be that my fiancee is eating, the other I will eat. I also want a salad or soup, and something in between the salad and the main course. ANd possibly a light pasta dish too, but not for the main course? I don't know. I want there to be other courses though. And desserts besides the wedding cake. KEEP IN MIND THAT: For my main course choice, the only meat I like is chicken, so it has to be a chicken dish or vegetarian. My fiance likes chicken, beef, or seafood. So his choice can be almost anything My fiance is from Nicaragua, so try to incorporate that or Spanish foods in the mix. It doesn't have to be a large part, but we both want it in the food somehow, maybe with the hors d'oeuvres, or smaller courses in the dinner. I also want a little Asian influence in the dinner.
